About the Artwork:
You say you’ll miss
a few good things
that makes you wish
it would never go away
and maybe some good days
will stop you
from what you know
it’s too good to be true
but most of the time
they just keep telling you
we all do it
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
Growing up a lonely kid, I remember spending most of my time alone, reading manga and playing video games. Parents were busy, making ends meet. They had only time to teach, not to bond with me. Before we knew it, I dug myself deep into my own corner. Made my own friends, created my own world. A place where I can feel safe.
I went to some university. Studied four years for one important lesson. Nothing worth learning can be taught. Not there anyway. So I taught myself. I learned how to paint on my own. Unknowingly developed my own style.
Around this time, many artists I knew started with manga art, then moved on as they mature. I didn’t. The more I grow, the more I am drawn back to where I started. To something I remember fondly since my childhood.
My work grows along with me, to look like me. An empty shell of once a beautiful place. Sky unlit. Kids with lonely stares. They all know me. They are a product of what the world has been to me. Ghosts of the past. Sometimes they wear clothes. Holding toys. Whatever that holds them onto their memories. Something we are both stuck with, because we refuse to let each other go.
They are my depression and anxiety, they are what I am to reality. They are words I cannot say to the real world. My sinking feeling that drives me to keep making art. A silent rage of despair and hopelessness when I’m alone. A result of spending a lifetime inside my own head.
I often paint to try and ease my mind. But most of the time, it keeps giving me even more heart-breaking realizations.
