About the Artwork:
‘A Life of Her Own’ shows a classical Venus statue in shambles, crumbling under the weight of time. Under the statue’s thick marble skin, the viewer discovers that she has a life of her own.
What has traditionally been an object created for the sole purpose of pleasing the viewer’s gaze, now presents itself as having an inner reality — a lived experience. One is confronted with the realness of the object’s existence. – Myriam Wares
