About the Artwork:

This Altered Book is inspired by two things. First – a dream I had on New Year’s Day about a moth in my room, buzzing and waiting for me to approach it after waking. This dream influenced thoughts on transformation and growth. Second – a poem by Mary Oliver, titled, The Moths: “If you notice anything, it leads you to notice, more and more”. – Isobelle Ouzman

Isobelle Ouzman, born in the UK and now based in Slovakia, is an Illustrator and Paper Artist most recognised for her Altered Books. Combining illustration and paper cutting, Isobelle creates 3-dimensional works of art, bringing her passion for storytelling into a realm of her own. Her process requires many weeks of dedicated work, and quietly explores the intricacies of human nature and the unknown, focusing on themes such as escapism, self-reflection, and hope.
