About the Artwork:
“Where did he belong? Whose life would he share? Whose language would he speak?
At that moment, when the world around him melted away, when he stood alone like a star in the heavens, he was overwhelmed by a feeling of icy despair, but he was more firmly himself than ever.” – Herman Hesse, Siddhartha
“As a first generation filipino-american, the majority of my paintings often explore the meaning of home, belonging, and loneliness- usually through whimsical visuals of imaginative characters and environments in faraway places. Instead of yearning for places that bring me comfort, I choose to create them instead.” – Fairywulf
