About the Artwork:
“Over time I developed several projection screens where my little stories can take place. The boundaries of these imaginary places are already permeable but in the filed of total abstraction they disappear completely. I rarely go there. Its almost to much of freedom but at the same time very attractive to drop in for a while.” – Roman Klonek
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
Roman Klonek, born in Kattowitz/Poland, has a soft spot for old fashioned cartoons and modern block printing styles.
In the 90’s he studied Graphic Arts in Duesseldorf and discovered a passion for woodcut. For 15 years now, he has been creating posters with a wide range of whimsical creatures, mostly half animal/half human, preferably in awkward situations. In his works you will find a bizarre balancing act between propaganda, folklore and pop. He works together with friends in a studio in Düsseldorf, Germany.
